Sophie Magdalena Scholl was a student at the University of Munich and a member of the White Rose, a non-violent resistance group in Nazi Germany. Aged 21, Sophie was executed by guillotine at Stadelheim Prison, Munich, on 22 February 1943, for distributing anti-war leaflets. Her older brother Hans, age 24, was executed minutes later, for the same offence.
