Welcome

Con Meehan, aka The Acoustic Mercenary, is an Irish-born singer-songwriter based in Ipswich, the county town of Suffolk, England - the same county that inspired two of England's most highly regarded artists - John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough – and one of its most noted composers, Benjamin Britten.

2023 saw the release of three mini-albums: Jackie Daniels & Me, Suffolk & Good! and Love In A Time Of War – the latter being inspired by people and events in World War II.

Con’s 15-track debut album, Intelligence Under Pressure (2003), attracted the attention of BBC Radio Suffolk's Stephen (Fos) Foster, who said the album was:

“A great selection of self-penned tracks. The album's best track is Radio Heart. [Grab it on the Home page as a free download in exchange for your email address]. It featured on the BBC Radio Suffolk playlist for several weeks and the more I hear it the better it is. If you hear a better pop song this year, please let me know. Other highlights include The Train Now Standing and On the Edge of Your Memories which recalls a fire in a Dublin Disco in 1981 in which 48 teenagers died.”
